We are excited as our conference date draws near! This message contains important details about presenting on August 12th. Please read the following details carefully.
On the morning of August 12th, please arrive at Coffman Union promptly and check in at the registration table when you arrive. Please look for signs that say Professionalism in Practice: Setting the Standard to guide you. You may arrive as early as 8:00am. Registration and continental breakfast are from 8:30am-9:00am. Note that you will be sharing a conference room with other presenters during other sessions, and the amount of time between sessions is 15 minutes. Please bear this in mind when you select any visual aids or artifacts to bring. You will know your room assignment when we have the program finalized.
Each conference room will contain the following: projector, screen, Ethernet connection, and whiteboard. If you are using a PowerPoint presentation you will need to bring your presentation on a flash-disk/jump-drive. There will be a volunteer available to assist you with any technical difficulties. The rooms will be set up with rectangular tables in seminar style. You may move them as you wish, but please return them to the original set-up for the next presenter. If you have already notified us of other equipment needs, we will have those available.
The number of attendees for each workshop will vary. Attendees may select their own workshop, and they will not pre-select. We expect to have around 150 attendees. Some of the conference rooms seat as many as 30 people. You should bring enough handouts for 30, to be safe. If you are unable to make photo copies at your school site, you may be reimbursed for black and white copies from a printer such as Kinkos. You must bring an original receipt with your full name on it, and the MPS ATPPS/ProPay office will reimburse you after the conference.
Each workshop will have a volunteer host who will introduce the session and assist presenters with logistical issues as needed, monitor time and ensure dedicated reflection time at the session’s end, and administer and collect session evaluations.
Each presenter has the option of attending presenter workshops for CEUs or for one PGC. We will host a presenter skill set on Monday July 28th (please note corrected date) and Monday August 4th from 1:00-3:00pm at the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers Office at Sixty Seven 8th Street NE, Minneapolis, 55413. The first session will focus on strategies for planning and delivering an effective presentation, while the second session will offer a chance to get individual coaching on your presentation. All presenters are invited to attend either session for CEUs; both sessions must be attended for PGC eligibility. For those who would like to document hours for PCGs but are not completing the skill set, please bring your logged preparation hours with you on the conference day for approval. Those who are involved in the skill set will receive additional information at the skill set meetings.
In order to have your parking reimbursed, you need to bring your parking stub in to be validated. Please stop by the registration table and bring your parking stub to the person near the "Presenters" sign. Your name will be checked off the list and your parking stub stamped.
Please view the attached documents for accuracy and reply to Holly with any changes. Your names will appear in the program as they are on these attached documents, so please let us know if there are credentials or prefixes you would prefer to use. Your session number and room number has not yet been assigned, but we will email you a copy of the program when it is completed. The attached session descriptions will go up on the web on Wednesday July 16th. Please respond ASAP with any changes.
